The long waited day finally came .The citizens of Kenya were anxiously waiting for that day with much zeal and anxiety to vote for their favorite candidates.
The following day, most Kenyans woke up very early to their respective polling stations to cast their votes.
When it reached dawn, the ballot papers were already being counted, people all over Kenya were glued on their television sets, while some had switched on their radios to hear their next president .
After the long wait ,Hon Samuel kivuitu who was the chairman of ECK, was seen on the television and heard on the radio announcing the results.
By six o’clock the winner had already been announced. Some people were happy as some were sad about the announcement. Rumor started spreading like fire that the winner had rigged the election.
Immediately, supporters of the defeated presidential candidate all over the country started burning up people’s houses and government premises and property, they were also looting.
As days went by,more killings took place in every corner of the country,in the long run it turned out to be tribal war. Lives were lost, be it in churches, homes, on the way…..children and mothers weeping…running away for their dear lives.
Politicians saw this mess, but none was willing to buck down, till mediators from other countries came in to cool the situation.
Marriages were destroyed, as a result of tribal killings, children were left orphans, mothers, widows while the fathers widows. An experience that made innocent lives be lost and made people have wounds on their hurts that will take decades to heal.
Kenyan’s, it is a wake up call to our politicians to stop being greedy politically.
